  • **ORGANIZATION NEWS** Trans Can Work, California's premiere TGI (transgender, gender diverse & intersex) workforce development nonprofit, has two exciting webinars coming up in July. Complete the interest form to learn more about each program and gain access to the registration links. July 23: Empowering TGNC Voices: Leadership & Representation in California Equality California brings the voices of LGBTQ+ people and allies to institutions of power including local, state and federal legislative bodies. We hope this webinar gives our TGNC clients the resources and knowledge to not only inspire, but empower them to seek positions of leadership in the state of California, because we know that representation matters, and without it, we are a less equal and fair society. July 30: Breaking Into Business Analysis: A Career Guide for Trans and Nonbinary Job Seekers Think of them as the ultimate translator—connecting business goals with tech solutions to make things run smoother. • **NEWS FROM THE FIELD** Rebecca Fitton critiques how major funders and intermediary organizations—such as fiscal sponsors and re-granting bodies—have both destabilized and controlled the U.S. nonprofit dance ecosystem by pulling core funding and reinforcing gatekeeping structures. Drawing on the closure or restructuring of programs like the Phyllis C. Wattis Foundation’s Legacy Grant and Walter & Elise Haas Fund support in 2024, Fitton highlights a wider pattern of philanthropic retreat under the guise of efficiency, leaving artists scrambling for sustainable support. She advocates for a shift toward worker-led, trust-based philanthropy that redistributes power and resources more equitably, rather than reinforcing hierarchical, short-term funding models. **GIA WEBINAR** Community foundations are uniquely positioned to catalyze change at the local level, even amidst shifting federal priorities and uncertainty. In partnership with CFLeads (Community Foundations Leading Change), this webinar will provide an overview of how community foundations organize to meet urgent needs and build long-term resilience. Through real-world examples, the session will highlight how arts and culture serve as powerful tools for civic engagement, connection, and community healing. Join Dr. Leonard Brock, Ed.D., MPA (CFLeads), Sharon DeMark (Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation), and Yuki Numata Resnick (Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo) on Tuesday, July 22 at 2pm ET / 11am PT to explore how funders can strengthen local infrastructure and uplift grassroots organizations responding to today’s challenges with creativity and care. This program was developed in partnership with CFLeads. Learn more and register for the webinar here: https://bit.ly/43BEskv

  • **GIA WEBINAR** Join your grantmaker peers on Tuesday, August 12 at 2pm ET/11am PT for Fair Funding Access, a GIA webinar focused on a collaborative effort to strengthen accessibility and accountability in arts grantmaking. Fair Funding Access (FFA) is a peer-led initiative supporting funders in examining their grantmaking structures, developing shared measures of fairness, and advancing a data-informed approach to funding. This session will introduce the goals and tools of the FFA project, including a flexible framework to assess and improve fairness in your arts grants. Attendees will hear directly from peers who have participated in the initiative and reflect on how evolving contexts call for new ways of measuring and practicing grantmaking. Speakers include: Edwin Torres and Nadia Elokdah (Grantmakers in the Arts), Suzanne Callahan (www.forthearts.org), Maurine Knighton (Doris Duke Foundation ) and Ti Wilhelm (Opportunity Fund) Learn more and register for the webinar here: https://bit.ly/3TFVuIo *This webinar will not be recorded.*

  • **ORGANIZATION NEWS** United Philanthropy Forum’s July 2025 resource page outlines coordinated philanthropic strategies to support communities devastated by recent floods across Texas and New Mexico, which collectively claimed over 120 lives and left scores missing, particularly in Kerr County where at least 95 people died and more than 150 remain unaccounted for. The Forum highlights existing relief funds—such as the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund and San Angelo Disaster Relief Fund—and recommends that philanthropy‑infrastructure organizations engage in immediate response funding, pooled collaborative giving, and sustained long‑term recovery efforts to rebuild infrastructure, livelihoods, and resilience. • **GIACON25** GIA's conference registration is equity based, meaning prices are staggered so that those who have smaller annual arts grantmaking budgets pay less and those that have larger budgets pay more. This is in line with our long-standing practice of staggered prices for both membership dues and workshop registration fees. We hope you continue to join us in our commitment to practicing equitable change. Check out the conference website for regular updates on registration, preconference excursions, FAQs, and more! • **GIA READER** 🎨 Art is liberation — a language that speaks of identity, resilience, & belonging. Rooted in the South yet echoing globally, this vision by Victoria Ray Boynton Moore reminds us that true creative power arises when we uplift “We”, not just the individual. Community‑based art isn’t just expression — it’s resistance. Let’s embrace collectivity, honor the stories in our streets, and build cultural futures that reflect all of us. 🌱 Read the full feature here: https://bit.ly/3IsgBv6 #TINYisPOWERFUL
