September 27 Web Conference: Bringing Artists Together
The next GIA web conference, Bringing Artists Together: Support through Convening, will be held on Tuesday, September 27 at 2pm EDT / 11am PDT. Jonathon Glus from Houston Arts Alliance and Meg Leary from United States Artists will present examples of how artist convenings can be utilized to cultivate connections between artists and other professionals for the advancement of the artists’ careers.

56 Artists Featured at GIA Conference
GIA is proud to feature 56 artists at the 2016 Conference, who will perform and participate in plenaries, preconferences, sessions, and special events. Highlights include the Native Pride Dancers, a group based in Minnesota who will perform at the Tuesday evening Celebration on the Mississippi River and poet Tish Jones, executive director of TruArtSpeaks in the Twin Cities, who will perform at the Monday Luncheon Plenary.

The Fall 2016 issue of the GIA Reader is in the mail and includes articles by Minnesota’s Racial Equity Funders Collaborative, Emiko Ono, Jack Becker, Simon Brault, and others. Featured on the cover is artwork by Gordon Coons (Ojibwa/Ottawa), who will also participate in the Tuesday evening event at the GIA Conference.
