Conference Keynote: Maurice Cox
The Sunday luncheon plenary of the 2017 GIA Conference will feature Maurice Cox, planning director for the City of Detroit. Cox is a nationally recognized leader and educator in community-centered urban design, and has previously held positions as design director of the National Endowment for the Arts, associate dean for community engagement at the Tulane University School of Architecture, and mayor of Charlottesville, Virginia. Webinars in July: Arts in Well-being
The next GIA webinar, Arts in Medicine: Supporting Artists Working in Healthcare Settings, will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2:00pm EDT / 11:00am PDT. Join Patricia Lambert from University of Oregon’s arts management program and Jill Sonke, director of University of Florida’s Center for the Arts in Medicine, who will share their experiences working with artists and healthcare professionals to support successful arts-in-medicine programs. Patricia and Jill participated as thought leaders at the Arts in Medicine Funders Forum earlier this year in Orlando, FL, a conversation sparked by GIA’s recent literature review. Janet Brown, GIA’s president and CEO, will moderate this discussion.
