Sphinx Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra
The final plenary at the 2017 GIA Conference will feature Detroit’s Sphinx Virtuosi, one of the nation’s most dynamic professional chamber orchestras. Comprised of 18 of the nation’s top Black and Latino classical soloists, these alumni of the internationally renowned Sphinx Competition come together each fall as cultural ambassadors to reach new audiences. In addition to a performance by the Sphinx Virtuosi, Tuesday’s plenary will also feature Sphinx Organization’s president and artistic director Afa Dworkin, who will discuss the organization’s work to advance diversity in the field of classical music.
