“Coronavirus Response: Building a Future that Reimagines Systems for Justice”: Our upcoming webinar
While we still do not know the full scale of the impact the coronavirus pandemic will have on our communities, our grantees, our artists and educators, we know recovery requires reimagining systems that center collectivity and racial equity.

Join us on Tuesday, June 16, at 2p ET/11am PT for a 90-minute webinar featuring Randy Engstrom (Seattle Office of Arts & Culture), Sharnita C. Johnson (The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation), Dana Kawaoka-Chen (Justice Funders), and Justin Laing (Hillombo, LLC). These funders and PSO leaders will talk about what is necessary to reimagine systems, power, and practice in response to this pandemic and the ongoing crisis of racial inequality.

Details and registration here.
From the GIA Reader
In “To Be,” part of the GIA Reader, Vol 31, No 1 (Winter 2020) issue, Husnaa Hashim writes about how being a “Black-idiosyncratic-Muslim-girlchild is to be lost and found.” Read here the powerful poem that resonates with the complicated days we’re facing collectively.
COVID-19 and Disability: Revisiting the webinar
Last month, leaders in the disability community joined us for candid discussion about the experiences of the disability community during the pandemic, the major policy issues impacting the community, and the dire need for philanthropy to step up and incorporate disability in funding initiatives.

Did you miss the conversation? Not to worry, we have an archived version (with captions)! We highly recommend carving out just an hour of your time to watch and share widely with your colleagues in philanthropy. Revisit the webinar here.

Navigating Toward Justice
At the top of my to-do list, I keep a list of links to resources that help me navigate philanthropy. They help me wrestle with questions like: how do I/we keep moving in the direction of justice? How can I/we acknowledge that systems of white supremacy, patriarchy, and capitalism have been extracting resources and labor from land and people…
