Opportunity Fund – GIA’s Member Spotlight
During the months of December 2021 and January 2022, GIA’s Member Spotlight is on The Opportunity Fund. Read about their work here.
The Latest from the President’s Blog
In his most recent President’s Blog, Eddie Torres addresses arts grantmakers’ changes in practice regarding support for artists and equity. In late 2020, GIA shared findings from a survey of our members that revealed that arts grantmakers were increasing their giving, their flexibility, support for artists and support for BIPOC organizations in response to the pandemic and movement for Black lives. In his blog, Torres offers the second part of the follow up to that survey. Read here.
Call for Interest: GIA Support for Individual Artist Committee
GIA members have been working together to promote and improve funding for individual artists for over 20 years. The committee has been an incubator for such projects as a scan of scholarly research on artist support, a visual timeline outlining the history of artist support funding, major publications and programs, and a project evaluating equitable ways to collect data during the individual artist grant application process. This thought leadership is driven and inspired by our members who support individual artists, and we deeply value their commitment to this work. To express interest in joining the committee or to recommend a colleague, please complete the nomination form by December 14, 2021.
