WALLACE FOUNDATION AWARDS $6.35 MILLION TO SUPPORT HIGH-QUALITY OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME LEARNING

The Wallace Foundation has announced grants totaling $6.35 million to support three nonprofits to increase access to high-quality learning.

“A focus on high-quality out-of-school time programs in cities and states across the country is gaining momentum, and these grants are part of our efforts to build on progress that has been made,” said Wallace Foundation director of communities Nancy Devine. “High-quality afterschool programs and summer learning opportunities are a key part of a young person’s development and we look forward to sharing additional lessons as the work of our partners like After School Matters, PASA, and the Afterschool Alliance continues.”

Recipients are:

  • After School Matters, Chicago. 3 million to help expand its OST partnership with the City of Chicago’s Department of Family and Support Services
  • Providence After School Alliance, Providence, RI. $2.6 million to help launch an expanded learning initiative between a citywide OST system and public schools.
  • Afterschool Alliance, Washington D.C. $740,000 for its efforts to support high-quality OST nationwide.
