CASE STUDIES REPORT ON ARTS FOR ALL IN L.A. COUNTY

The first 11 school districts to join L.A. County’s arts education initiative, Arts for All, have made admirable progress in developing an infrastructure for arts education that carries the potential to be self-sustaining in time, according to case studies released today by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.

The case studies and cross-case analyses offer new insights about the differences between planning to restore arts education and making that plan a reality. “There is a robust and rigorous body of research on the impact of arts education on students,” said Sandra Ruppert, Director of the Arts Education Partnership. “However, since the Partnership’s own 1999 report, Gaining the Arts Advantage, there has been sparse research on the effective strategies for implementing, sustaining and stewarding arts education efforts. The Arts for All case studies report is an important step in that direction.”
