This excellent brief review of recent international literature on arts-based revitalization was prepared for the World Summit on Arts and Culture in NewcastleGateshead, England, in June 2006. The report contains clear and concise presentation of "pro" and "con" arguments for regeneration strategies based on iconic buildings and cities of culture, cultural clusters, and the creative class, with particularly rich examples from Europe. Included is an exhaustive bibliography of recent research.
