METROPOLITAN ATLANTA ARTS FUND LAUNCHES $2.5 MILLION EFFORT
During the current recession, arts and cultural organizations are particularly vulnerable.
Now the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund, part of The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, has launched a two-year, $2.5 million initiative to help the region’s small and midsized arts groups weather the difficult economy.
Already, the fund has raised $1.8 million of the $2.5 million goal, with the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation providing the largest contribution of $1.5 million. The other donors include the Kendeda Fund, the Zeist Foundation and Bank of America. The remaining $700,000 is expected to be raised in the next six months.
The Atlanta Arts Recovery initiative is allowing the Metro Arts Fund to double its annual grants to cultural organizations from its normal $500,000 to $1 million.
