From Kathleen Massara at The Huffington Post:
The Central Utah Art Center (CUAC), one of the only nonprofit arts centers in the state of Utah, is facing eviction and serious funding cuts at an Ephraim city council meeting Wednesday night.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that CUAC for several years has received $30,000 annually as well as free use of the renovated granary space in the heart of Ephraim's Pioneer Square. But in late June, Mayor David Parrish notified the art center at the City Council of Ephraim City meeting that it was being evicted as of Aug. 20, because of "lack of support for local arts education and artists." The mayor said that no public funds would be provided to the institution this coming year, according to minutes from the meeting.
