Ernest Tollerson Named Interim CEO at The Nathan Cummings Foundation
Ernest Tollerson will serve as interim CEO at The Nathan Cummings Foundation, according to the foundation’s board chair Adam Cummings. He will formally begin his work with the Foundation on Monday, August 4. The board will launch a search for a permanent CEO later this year.
Tollerson was a distinguished Trustee of the Nathan Cummings Foundation board reaching the 10-year service limit in 2013; a tenure which included a three-year term as board chair. Because of his deep, longstanding connection to the Foundation’s work and mission and his own work as an innovator in the field of climate change, he is an exceptional individual to lead the continued implementation of the foundation’s new strategic direction.
Prior to joining NCF as our interim CEO, Ernest worked for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) as Director of Environmental Sustainability and Compliance. Currently, he is a trustee of the Hudson River Foundation and the New York Historical Society. He is also a former member of the management board of the Environmental Grantmakers Association, the affinity group for U.S.-based foundations that fund environmental NGOs and projects, and a former member of the board of Demos, a nonpartisan hub for research, ideas and action to promote the common good.
