In Cincinnati, a city with an oft-battered image and struggling sports teams, arts and cultural institutions are among the assets that make the region a place people want to live, work and establish a business.

“This is forcing everyone to think outside of the box,” says Eric Lee, Taft Museum of Art director, pointing out that the museum opened in the depths of the Great Depression. “We’ll all have to be more creative.
