“In the U.S. we left in part because we faced little funding, or working several jobs so we could just do what we were meant to do. Being abroad now for almost a decade I have seen the countries that do support the arts have a stronger presence artistically globally, children have stronger educations about art, and imaginations are deeper across the culture.

On the down side as with all organizations certain groups, organizations, or populations get more of its funding. They rise in power through various means and a code is established that one must have met to get some of that funding. People on the comittees inevitably become part of the establishment and start to “know” peers and colleagues. Art worlds can be very small and it is so tempting to reinforce ones homogenity.
