(4-13-2011) From AFTA Arts Action News:

The House Appropriations Committee publicly released the final budget agreement for FY 2011 negotiated by President Obama with House and Senate leaders, which includes $155 million in funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). This represents a cut of $12.5 million from the FY 2010 enacted level of $167.5 million, which is significantly better than the previous House-approved level of $124.4 million.

(4-11-2011) Proposals for 2011 GIA conference sessions will be accepted through this Thursday, April 14. The conference will be in San Francisco from October 9 to 12. Embracing the Velocity of Change is the conference title and theme, and content at the intersections of art, technology, and social change will be featured.

(4-11-2011) The Enviromental Grantmakers Association and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the Ford Foundation, and the United Nations Foundation would like to invite you to a Funders’ Roundtable on Rio + 20 on April 20th, 2011 from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at the United Nations Headquarters in New York (address and room number will be communicated closer to the day).

(4-10-2011) Seattle mourns Melisssa Hines. For the past seven years, Melissa directed the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs’ funding programs and led our arts education initiative. Previously, she dedicated 23 years of her career to The Empty Space Theatre.

(4-8-2011) In April, the photo banner at the top of the website features a rotating series of performance and artwork photographs provided by Houston Arts Alliance, a GIA member. The photographs document a series of projects funded via the Houston Arts Alliance's grantmaking program. Many thanks to the Alliance for sharing these striking images with the GIA membership.
