Outreach Continues to Artists Affected by Tornados in Southeast
Submitted by Steve on May 6, 2011
Many organizations are joining the effort to aid the thousands of people who were affected by the enormous outbreak of tornados in late April. The Actors Fund has recently compiled a list of resources for artists who need help.
- Be Ready Alabama: Be Ready Alabama helps Alabamans be informed, involved and ready in the case of a disaster.
- State of Alabama Emergency Management Agency: Alabama's Emergency Management Agency is an excellent resource for finding the latest information on the current state of tornado recovery.
- The Alabama Poverty Project: Tornado Relief: The Alabama Poverty Project has compiled an extensive list of organizations providing local assistance in the wake of the devastating tornadoes. Although it is intended as a list of organizations to donate to, it is also useful as a resource for assistance, including food, water, hygiene products, clothing, and financial assistance.
- Federal Disaster Loans for Homeowners, Renters, and Businesses of all Sizes: The U.S. Small Business Administration provides low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private, nonprofit organizations to repair or replace real estate, personal property, machinery & equipment, inventory and business assets that have been damaged or destroyed in a declared disaster.
The Actors Fund announcement joins efforts from CERF+ and NYFA Source to reach and assists the artist communitys of Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia, and other devastated areas.
