SphinxCon a New Conference Dedicated to Diversity Issues in the Performing Arts
Sphinx, the Detroit-based performing arts organization, is launching its inaugural international convening on diversity, SphinxCon, which will take place in Detroit, February 15-17, 2013. The event will bring together leaders from all disciplines of the performing arts to share ideas, challenges, successes and lessons learned in pursuit of increased diversity in all aspects of the sector. SphinxCon aims to illuminate the critical topic of diversity, doing so in an unprecedented manner and scope. The takeaways from the convening include sharing of ideas, building connections, illustrating a broad view of diversity across the disciplines, development of resources and contacts, and empowerment to take action. A series of featured and guest speakers will shape the conversation in an innovative, unconventional format inspired by TED global set of conferences.
Organizations working in all aspects of the performing arts share challenges and interest in diversity, ranging from engaging diverse audiences, building diversity among program participants, or supporting the work organizations are doing around diversity. Early bird registration is $69.99 and the deadline is November 1, 2012. Regular registration begins November 2, 2012.
